Musical Influences

We are hugely influenced by countless musicians that include the pioneers of early jazz such as Jelly Roll Morton, Sidney Bechet and Louis Armstong. We also love the elegant and swinging small group and big band swing of the likes of Django Reinhart, Lew Stone, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and Count Basie. Later 1940-50s influences include the hot sounds of Ray Charles, Louis Jordon and Louis Prima. The singers in Palace Avenue also take inspiration from Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sinatra, and Nat King Cole to name but a few.
